Your Google Reviews Are Sitting on the Wrong Page
Your Google Reviews Are Sitting on the Wrong Page
You worked hard for those reviews. A customer took five minutes out of their day to write something nice, posted it on Google, and now it's buried on your Business Profile where only people who already found you can see it.
Meanwhile, your website -- the place you're actually paying to send traffic -- has nothing. Maybe a generic tagline. Maybe some stock photos of a handshake. But no proof that real people hired you and were happy about it.
That's a problem worth fixing.
Why this matters more than you think
When someone lands on your website for the first time, they don't know you. They found you through a search, maybe clicked an ad, maybe got a referral. Either way, they're evaluating whether to trust you with their home, their business, or their money.
Reviews are the fastest shortcut to that trust. Not your list of services. Not your "15 years of experience" header. Reviews from real people, with real names, saying specific things about the work you did.
BrightLocal's 2026 Local Consumer Review Survey found that 88% of consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations. Your reviews aren't just social proof -- they're a sales tool. And right now most small businesses are leaving them on Google and forgetting about them.
Three ways to get them on your site
Copy and paste the best ones manually. This sounds low-tech but it works. Pick your five or six strongest reviews -- the ones that mention a specific service, a specific problem you solved, or a specific team member by name. Put them on your homepage or your services page as a testimonials section. Keep the reviewer's first name and last initial. That's it.No widget needed. No plugin. Just actual human words from actual customers, on the page where people are making decisions.
Use a Google review widget. If you want the reviews to update automatically, there are free and paid tools that pull from your Google Business Profile and display them on your site. EmbedSocial, Elfsight, and Senja all have free tiers. You paste a short code snippet into your website and it handles the rest. The reviews refresh as new ones come in, so you're not going back every month to update a static list. Screenshot and design them in. For businesses with a small number of exceptional reviews, a designed card (reviewer name, star rating, and quote) looks clean and intentional. It also lets you style them to match your site instead of relying on a widget that might clash with your colors. This takes a little more work but it stands out.Where to put them
Homepage, above the fold if you can manage it. Or at minimum in the bottom half of the homepage, before the footer. Visitors who are on the fence about calling you need to see proof before they scroll back up and hit the phone number.
The services page is the second-best spot. Someone reading about your window cleaning or your landscaping or your remodeling work is already interested -- hit them with a review that specifically mentions that service while they're in the mindset.
Contact pages are underrated for this. It's the last page someone sees before they decide to reach out. A well-placed "Here's what our customers say" block right above the contact form is a quiet nudge at exactly the right moment.
A note on which reviews to pick
Not all five-star reviews are created equal. "Great service, highly recommend!" is weak. "Andrew came out the next morning, noticed a spot we'd missed on our last visit, and fixed it without us even asking. We've had three cleaning companies over the years and this is the first one we're actually sticking with" -- that does real work.
Pull the specific ones. The ones that tell a story. The ones that name the problem, name the person, or describe the result in a way that other potential customers can picture themselves in.
If you have a review like that and it's only on Google, you're hiding your best sales content from the people who need to see it most.
