This Week in Tampa Bay: Sunday Night Football, SHINE Mural Fest, and Two Food Events That Deserve Your Saturday (November 3-9)

This Week in Tampa Bay: Sunday Night Football, SHINE Mural Fest, and Two Food Events That Deserve Your Saturday (November 3-9)

November arrived, the weather finally feels like Florida should, and Tampa Bay has a week worth getting out for.

The Lightning open things Tuesday night, the back end of the week belongs to St. Pete's annual mural festival, and Sunday sits at the top of the whole thing: the Bucs at home under the lights.

Here's what's worth putting on your calendar.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Detroit Red Wings

Tuesday, November 3 | 7:00 PM | Benchmark International Arena, Tampa

The Bolts are home tonight to take on the Red Wings, and Tuesday night hockey is genuinely one of the better low-key options in the area. Tickets are still available, parking on the Channelside side is usually your best bet if you go late, and the game moves fast enough that you're home by 10.

If you haven't been to Benchmark since the renovation, it's worth the trip just to see it.

SHINE St. Pete Mural Festival Begins

November 6-15 | Street locations throughout St. Petersburg

The 12th annual SHINE Mural Festival starts Friday and runs two full weeks, with 13 artists painting large-scale murals at locations across St. Pete. The festival has transformed St. Petersburg's walls into something most cities would have paid a fortune to create, and this year's roster continues that.

It's free and you can catch murals going up all week. Check the SHINE website for the artist map and start locations. The stretch around Central Avenue and the Grand Central District usually sees the most activity in the first few days.

If you have never walked the SHINE route on a Thursday or Friday when painters are still actively working, that's the move. Nobody oversells what watching a five-story mural come together from the sidewalk looks like in real time.

Rickey Smiley at Tampa Theatre

Friday, November 6 | 8:00 PM | Tampa Theatre, 711 N. Franklin St., Tampa

Comedian Rickey Smiley brings The ADHD Tour to the Tampa Theatre Friday night for a late show in one of the better seated comedy rooms in the state. The Theatre's historic auditorium fits the format well. Tickets are on the higher side for a stand-up show, but the venue makes it feel like more than dinner-table material.

SAVOR St. Pete Food + Wine Festival

Saturday-Sunday, November 7-8 | Vinoy Park, St. Petersburg

The SAVOR festival takes over Vinoy Park this weekend with local and regional chefs, wine and spirit pours, cooking demonstrations, and the general waterfront-in-November-in-Florida experience that this region does better than almost anywhere.

Saturday is the main event, with general admission and VIP tiers that include early entry and seated tastings. If you're going, Saturday afternoon is where most of the chef demonstrations land.

Vinoy Park is one of the few places in St. Pete where a food festival doesn't feel cramped. The layout along the waterfront gives it breathing room.

Pirates, Parrots & Paradise Festival

Saturday-Sunday, November 7-8 | Coachman Park, Clearwater

Coachman Park is running a pirate-themed festival the same weekend, which means your Saturday has a real conflict if you're on the Clearwater side. Pirates, Parrots & Paradise has live music, vendor market, carnival-style games, pirate reenactors, and the kind of energy that plays well for families or anyone who just wants to spend an afternoon outside near the water.

Admission is typically low or free depending on the day. Parking around Coachman has gotten easier since the renovation.

Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons

Sunday, November 8 | 8:20 PM | Raymond James Stadium, Tampa

The marquee game of the week. Tampa Bay hosts Atlanta Sunday night in a prime-time NFC South matchup, and with the Bucs coming off back-to-back wins, this one has a different energy than most early-November home games tend to carry.

Sunday Night Football at Raymond James is worth experiencing. Gates open around 5:30. Ybor City is about 15 minutes east if you want to eat before the game without paying stadium prices, and there's no shortage of bars in the South Howard area doing watch parties for the overflow crowd.

Expect the area around the stadium to fill up by 6:00 PM.

That's the week. Lightning Tuesday, SHINE through the whole back half, two back-to-back festival options Saturday, and the Bucs closing it out Sunday night.
