This Week in Tampa Bay: Halloween Owns the Weekend, Bucs Head to Charlotte, and the Lightning Are Back (October 24-31)

Halloween week in Tampa Bay hits different. The weather finally feels like fall, the whole city leans into costumes and chaos, and there's legitimately something going on every single night from here through Saturday. Whether you're bringing the kids out or hunting for the best bar crawl, the bay has you covered.

Here's what's worth knowing.

Fantasma Fest Turns Ybor Into a Family Halloween Block Party

Saturday, October 25 | Ybor City | Free

Ybor City's Fantasma Fest is back for its tenth year, and it's still one of the better free events the area puts on all fall. The festival brings the whole family angle without being corny about it: there's a kids pumpkin patch, bed races down the street (yes, actual bed races), live music, local vendors, and plenty of costume energy before the adult version of Halloween takes over later that night.

It starts in the afternoon, so you can do the family thing and still have time to make dinner plans. Parking in Ybor on weekends is its own adventure, so give yourself extra time or take the TECO Line Streetcar in from downtown.

Halloween on Central Shuts Down St. Pete's Main Street

Central Avenue, St. Petersburg

Halloween on Central is one of the biggest street festivals St. Pete puts on all year. Two blocks of Central Avenue close down for costume contests, trick-or-treating, live entertainment, and the kind of crowd-watching that's basically free entertainment on its own.

If you haven't been, Central Ave on Halloween is worth the trip. The mix of locals, visitors, families, and full-commitment costume wearers makes for a genuinely good time. Check the city's event page for the exact times and vendor lineup closer to the date.

Ybor City Goes Full Halloween (Oct 30-31)

Ybor City | Thursday and Saturday

Thursday night brings the Halloween Eve Bar Crawl to Ybor starting at 5pm, with check-in at Southern Belle. Saturday is the main event: the Halloween Bar Crawl runs from 5pm to midnight, and the historic Cuban Club transforms into what they're calling a sinister carnival with live DJs, indoor and outdoor spaces, and a costume setup that actually uses the building well. The Cuban Club is one of those venues that earns the "historically haunted" label with some credibility.

If you've never been to Ybor on Halloween, it's worth seeing at least once. The costumes get creative and the energy is real. Get there early if you want to move around without fighting the crowds.

Bucs at Carolina: Road Game, Early Kickoff

Sunday, October 25 | 1:00 PM | Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte

The Buccaneers head to Charlotte to take on the Carolina Panthers in a 1pm kickoff Sunday. It's an away game, so grab your spot at a sports bar or keep the remote in hand. The Bucs have been inconsistent this season, and division road games have a way of being closer than anyone expects.

Dozens of spots around the bay will have it on, from Armature Works to your neighborhood sports bar. No shortage of places to watch.

Lightning Home Game: Tampa vs. Winnipeg Jets

Wednesday, October 29 | Amalie Arena, Tampa

The Lightning are back at Amalie Wednesday night against the Winnipeg Jets. The NHL season is still early, which means every home game is a chance to build some early momentum. Amalie is a genuinely great arena to catch a game, and October hockey has a different energy than the playoff-or-bust version everyone's used to from the championship years.

Tickets were still available as of this writing. Worth checking if you haven't been to a home opener stretch game yet this season.

One More Thing

The Tampa Riverwalk Trick-or-Treat is a solid option for families looking for something a little more relaxed than the Ybor scene. The Riverwalk is always well-maintained, the route is easy to navigate with kids, and it's a good way to do Halloween without the parking headaches that come with the bigger events.
