This Week in Tampa Bay: Juneteenth at RayJay, Josh Groban, and a Week Worth Celebrating (June 16–22)

Juneteenth lands on a Thursday this year, which means Tampa Bay is treating the whole week like it deserves — and it does. The biggest free Juneteenth celebration in the region runs through Saturday, Josh Groban plays Benchmark on Friday, and the smaller venues have their own thing going all week. Here's everything worth your time June 16–22.

ROC the Block Juneteenth Festival — Saturday, June 20

This is the one to plan around if you haven't already.

ROC the Block is back for its sixth year — and by most accounts, it's the largest Juneteenth celebration in Tampa Bay. The big free finale goes Saturday, June 20 from 2:30 to 9:30 PM at Raymond James Stadium (4201 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa).

Free admission. Pre-registration is encouraged. The lineup includes live DJs, dance performances, musical guests, a KidZone, food vendors, and community resource booths. It's family-friendly and runs into the evening, so it works whether you're bringing the whole crew or flying solo.

The full weeklong ROC the Block programming (which kicked off June 15) runs through Friday before the main event — check roctheblockinc.com for the week's schedule and the pre-registration link for Saturday.

This is the kind of thing Tampa Bay does well — free, community-driven, outdoors, and genuinely worth showing up for.

Juneteenth Day — Thursday, June 19

June 19th is the federal holiday this year, and there's activity across the area. The City of Tampa has had a busy Juneteenth calendar this week, and several community organizations are hosting gatherings on the day itself.

If you want to keep it simple, Juneteenth Thursday is a good excuse to eat somewhere local in Ybor City or the Heights and wander. The area has been doing this well for years.

Josh Groban — Friday, June 19 at Benchmark International Arena

For something completely different: Josh Groban plays Benchmark International Arena on Friday night at 8 PM.

If you've got someone in your life who's been waiting for this show — or if you grew up listening to You Raise Me Up and you're not apologizing for it — this is the night. Benchmark holds about 20,000, so it'll be a proper arena experience. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.

It's also Juneteenth, so yes — you can do both the daytime community events and this in the evening if you're organized about it.

Smaller Venues Worth Knowing About

The clubs are doing their thing all week:

Thursday–Saturday: Crankdat at The Ritz Ybor, 10 PM nightly. He's a DJ/producer who blends trap and electronic — runs late, Ybor energy. Three nights if you missed Friday. Friday, June 19: Delta Sleep + Michael Cera Palin at Crowbar, Ybor City, 7 PM. Delta Sleep is a math-rock/post-rock band out of the UK. If you like complex, dynamic guitar music and you've never heard them, this is worth the Crowbar ticket price. Sunday, June 21: Spite + Emmure + Psycho-Frame + Rev3rent at The Orpheum, 6 PM. Metalcore. Emmure has been a staple of the genre for 15+ years — if that's your world, you already have this circled. Sunday, June 21: Seahaven at Crowbar, 8 PM. Melodic punk/emo. Good Sunday night show if you want something lower-key than the metal across town.
