This Week in Tampa Bay: TOTO, Zeds Dead, Anime Rave, and the Saturday Morning Market (July 29 – August 4)
July goes out with a good lineup. Between a major outdoor concert at the amphitheatre, a daylife event at the Hard Rock, a couple of nights in Ybor, and the Saturday market running its summer schedule, this week gives you a lot of directions to go depending on your vibe.
Here's what's worth knowing about.
TOTO + Christopher Cross + The Romantics | Saturday, August 1
MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre, Tampa | 6:45 PMThis one is for the classic rock and soft rock crowd, and honestly, it's a strong triple bill. TOTO headlines, supported by Christopher Cross and The Romantics. If "Africa," "Sailing," or "Talking in Your Sleep" means anything to you, this show is going to hit.
The Amphitheatre is an outdoor venue, so expect a warm August evening. If you're going lawn, bring a blanket or low chairs. Parking can get backed up, so plan to arrive a bit before the 6:45 start. Tickets are available through Live Nation and the MIDFLORIDA Amphitheatre site.
Anime Rave at The Ritz Ybor | Thursday, July 30
The RITZ Ybor, Tampa | 8:00 PM | From $35It's exactly what it sounds like. Cosplay encouraged, DJs all night, full production setup. The Anime Rave has built a following for these themed club nights and The Ritz is a solid room for it. This is a good pick if you want something a little different from the standard Ybor night out. Tickets start around $35, available in advance online.
Tobehonest at The RITZ Ybor | Friday, July 31
The RITZ Ybor, Tampa | 10:00 PMBack-to-back nights at the same venue, totally different energy. Tobehonest plays a late set Friday night running into Saturday morning. If electronic music is your thing and you're already out in Ybor on Friday, this is where to end up. The Ritz is a well-run room with good sound, and a late-night set here is reliable.
Tempo Daylife: Zeds Dead | Sunday, August 2
Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Event Center | 11:00 AMZeds Dead brings their dubstep and bass music set to the Hard Rock for Tempo Daylife, a daytime pool party series the venue runs through the summer. Eleven in the morning is an early start, but that's the format. If you've been to a Tempo Daylife before, you know how the day unfolds. If you haven't, it's a good introduction, especially for fans of heavier electronic music who want something outdoors in the daytime.
Tickets through Live Nation.
St. Pete Saturday Morning Market | Saturday, August 1
Downtown St. Petersburg | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PMThe Saturday Morning Market runs year-round, but during June through August it moves to its summer location across from its usual spot. Local produce, prepared food, coffee, local makers, and vendors. It's a good two hours on a Saturday morning before the August heat gets serious. Free to browse.
Check saturdaymorningmarket.com for the exact summer address before you go.
That covers the week. A little something for every crowd: classic rock legends at the outdoor amphitheatre, themed nights in Ybor, a daytime EDM event at the Hard Rock, and a local market to start your Saturday. Whether you go to one or all five, it's a solid close to July.
