Saturday is a two-venue problem. Lynyrd Skynyrd is at MIDFLORIDA, Men At Work is in Clearwater, and you can't be in both places at once. Then Sunday throws a World Cup Final at you. It's a good week to be in Tampa Bay.
Here's what's happening.
American Idiot Opens at the Straz (July 15-Aug. 9)
Jobsite Theater's production of American Idiot opens Wednesday at the Jaeb Theater inside the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts. The Green Day rock musical runs through August 9, so you've got time, but opening week is always the one to catch if you can.
The show follows three friends navigating post-9/11 America to the soundtrack of Green Day's 2004 album. It's been one of the most-produced regional theater pieces of the past decade, and Jobsite does it well. If you've never seen the stage version, it hits differently than the record.

Asian Summer Food and Music Festival at Curtis Hixon (July 17-19)
Three days of food vendors, live music, and cultural performances on the Riverwalk at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. The festival runs Friday through Sunday, so you've got the whole weekend to make it down.
Expect a range of Asian cuisines from different vendors alongside performances throughout the day. Curtis Hixon is a great spot for this kind of thing, right on the water, easy to park, easy to walk to from Channelside or downtown.
Two Big Shows on Saturday, July 18
Lynyrd Skynyrd with Loverboy and Six Gun Sally play MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre on Saturday at 6:30 PM. This one belongs on the list of shows that tend to actually sell out in the Tampa market. Loverboy is a solid opener for that crowd, and Six Gun Sally kicks things off first. Tickets through Live Nation.Ten miles away and kicking off around the same time, Men At Work with Toad the Wet Sprocket and Shonen Knife play The BayCare Sound in Clearwater. Men At Work touring again is still a bit surreal, and the Coachman Park waterfront setup makes it a particularly good summer show. Ruth Eckerd Hall handles the ticketing.
Two legitimate concerts on the same Saturday. Pick one and commit.
The Petty Experience also plays the Side Door Cabaret at the Palladium in St. Pete on Saturday night. If neither big outdoor show is your thing but you want live music, this is the quieter option. Reserved seating from $30-$55 at mypalladium.org.World Cup Final Sunday, July 19
The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final is Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and Tampa Bay has been deep in it all tournament long. Several bars are setting up proper watch parties.
MacDinton's Irish Pub in Tampa has a World Cup Final Watch Party starting at 3 PM. Mad Dogs and Englishmen on 7th Ave in Ybor is hosting a World Cup Block Party from 2-6 PM. Hotel Haya's Matchday Mercado on 7th runs 3-6 PM for the final match. The Tampa Bay Rowdies have been running official watch parties throughout the tournament, so check rowdiessoccer.com for any final-day events.Kickoff for the final is at 3 PM Eastern. Plan ahead if you're going anywhere busy.

Eric Darius plays the Palladium Theater in St. Pete on Friday, July 17. He's a smooth jazz artist from the area who has made it big nationally, and his hometown shows have a different energy. Doors at 5:30 PM.The Asian Food Festival at Curtis Hixon (mentioned above) also runs Sunday, so if the World Cup is in the second half and you want a break, the Riverwalk is right there.
A World Cup Final, two big outdoor concerts on the same Saturday, a Green Day musical, and an outdoor food festival running all weekend. There are worse weeks to be in Pinellas or Hillsborough County.
